Poetry | Outside The Lines

1–2 minutes

read

I live life outside the lines
free of barriers to my creativity
colorful expression of greatness
painted by my father

I ooze color
I bleed red, orange, and blue
my skin sun-kissed yellow
socks never matching
shoes steady tapping

I feel music in my bones
I feel rhythm in my soul
in these moments I feel free
free to be myself
not constricted
confined to one idea of normalcy

no, I am ME

destined to stand out
spill onto blank pages
Aggravate perfectionist
amuse young souls
blue like the ocean
white like the purity of the god I serve

I love who I am
I love erasing barriers built before I arrived on this here earth
I enjoy making you drown in so much color your eyes widen and never shut
because on this day I am proud
more proud than I’ve ever been

to exist

to be free

to be unapologetically me
